Documenting recent work
I finally found the time to document some of the recent work i did on moviesandbox (coming with version 1360, hopefully soon).
The Gametrak used to play Marionette in the video from the last post is used again, this time to control a virtual camera. Of course, it will be paired with a WiiMote soon to get the proper roll angle.
Also, WiiMotes can be used to control all sorts of fun things (they basically work like a joystick) with Moviesandbox.
In other news, i am still working on the Animation tool to create your own Animations using two (or maybe more) webcams. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like as of right now:
On the left, you see the live video feed of the two webcams, and if you look closely, you might spot two markers on the shoulder and elbow of the puppet. The markers are used to calculate the angle of the bone and are then sent to Moviesandbox, where your basic skeleton will adapt the bone's rotation (seen on the right). Why would you want to do something like this?
Simple:
You can record a piece of video from both cameras simultaneously and then place keyframes at critical locations. On every keyframe, you tell the computer where your bones are situated (obviously using a lot more markers than the two) and transfer the timing and bonerotations to Moviesandbox. It's a very cheap way of doing your own Mocap. And maybe i'll implement some automatic Marker recognition with colors or something. We'll see.
I am also working on a balsamic vinegar version of the milkscanner. Hopefully it will make it into the next release...
